Learn Barefoot Running Technique

ALEKS KASHEFI (AKA BAREFOOT ALEKS)

British adventurer Aleks Kashefi embraced running in 2012 and after just 3 years of running completed the classic length of Britain adventure, running 1162 miles from Land's End to John O'Groats barefoot in 38 days. A year later his start line was the most northern point of mainland Europe in Norway, and after 6 months of running through the winter, he became the first person to run the full length of Europe. Aleks's epic run ended 6189km later at the southern tip of Spain.

Now, despite an irrational fear of open water, Aleks is preparing for #ProjectBigSwim, the first self supported swim that circumnavigates mainland UK.

  • A barefoot running pioneer, teacher and storyteller, Aleks will show you the basics of barefoot running form in the interactive workshop
  • You'll experience the joys of barefoot running under expert tuition and leave the workshop with a natural running form that will help prevent injuries too

Poles remove 30% of the pressure from your ankle's, knee's & hips and transfer it to your upper body, this saves your lower limb joints from too much pounding. Using your poles effectively increases your forward propulsion and increases speed. Many runners walk hills and to use poles on the hills will gain you place after place.

  • In this 1.5 hour workshop you will learn how to use your poles effectively, how to use them when you are running, what to do with them on the downhills and when to put them in your pack.
  • Poles will be supplied.
  • If you bring your own, we recommend Leki NW poles.
